JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you someone who enjoys creating clean, safe, and welcoming environments for students, staff, and the community? Saline Area Schools is seeking an Afternoon Custodian to help ensure our buildings are maintained to the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and inclusivity.

 

Under the general supervision of the Director, Building Principal, and Lead Custodian, the Afternoon Custodian plays a key role in promoting the health, safety, and success of our school community. This role includes following daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules for classrooms, bathrooms, offices, kitchen areas, and other spaces. Additional responsibilities may include basic building maintenance, snow removal, and other duties that support school operations. We’re looking for a dependable team player with a strong work ethic and a commitment to fostering an environment where everyone feels welcome.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS

This position requires physical stamina, mobility, and the ability to lift up to 55 pounds. Duties may involve standing for long periods, stooping, climbing, carrying, and using cleaning tools. Exposure to cleaning chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, and various weather conditions should be expected. Must be free from communicable diseases and breathing impairments. Ability to travel between work sites and respond to emergencies is essential.

 

EQUIPMENT

Must be able to operate cleaning and maintenance equipment such as vacuums, floor scrubbers, snow blowers, and other tools related to building upkeep.

 

WORK SCHEDULE

School Year: Monday–Friday, afternoons

Summer: Hours may vary

 

FLSA STATUS

Non-Exempt

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

RATE OF PAY

$19.50 per hour
