JOB DESCRIPTION

The CTE Welding and Fabrication Instructor will have a strong background in welding and fabrication, as well as a passion for teaching and mentoring high school students. This position involves developing and delivering a state-certified comprehensive Career and Technical Education curriculum that prepares students for careers in welding and fabrication, along with furthering their education in the field.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS

Ability to stand and move about the welding lab and classroom for extended periods, ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and access equipment and materials stored at varying heights, ability to lift, carry, and move materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without assistance, ability to tolerate exposure to shop conditions including heat, noise, fumes (with proper ventilation), and bright welding arcs, ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) including helmet, gloves, safety glasses, and protective clothing. Additionally, must maintain constant situational awareness in a high-risk lab environment.

 

EQUIPMENT

Experience operating and instructing students in the safe use of welding and fabrication equipment, including SMAW, GMAW (MIG), GTAW (TIG), oxy-fuel cutting, and related shop machinery.

 

TRAVEL

Overnight, weekend travel is expected for SkillsUSA competitions.
