This is a contract position posted by EDUStaff and leased to Saline Area Schools.
REPORTS TO: Before and After School Care Program Specialist
JOB GOAL: To provide quality care and enriching learning experience to the children enrolled in the program.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as the staff leader as you:
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of a variety of daily activities to help children develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
- Assign daily responsibilities for staff.
- Ensure staff interacts with children in a way that shows respect and helps build the child’s self-esteem.
- Supervise children to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment for all participants.
- Comply with local, state and federal laws as well as district policy and regulations related to programs.
- Operate the copy machine, computers and other equipment as needed.
- Light lifting may be required.
- Assist in purchasing equipment and materials.
- Keep the equipment and facilities clean and organized.
- Answer the phone, accept cash and checks, register children and perform other organizational duties needed to maintain successful operation of the program.
- Interact with parents as they pick-up and drop-off children daily. Maintain open, two-way communication with parents regarding their child and the program.
- Participate in the program and department problem-solving and/or decision-making process.
- Serve as a “goodwill” ambassador to the public for the program, the Community Education Department and the Saline Area Schools.
- Remain abreast of current trends, knowledge and attitudes affecting child care and Before and After School Care programs.
- Pool days which involve swimming with students (not serving as a lifeguard) are expected.
- Perform other tasks and duties related to the program as assigned or appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills
- Good organizational skills
- Successful experience in supervising youth, including kindness, patience and good discipline skills.
- Basic math skills
- Personal qualities: Dependable attendance, courtesy and tact, punctuality, flexibility
- Minimum of 18 years of age and a high school graduate
- Additional training/education desirable but not required
- Able to receive clearance on a State Police records check
- Nonsmoker at worksite
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Hours to be set by the employer
EVALUATION: Contract employee’s performance shall be evaluated at least once within the first 90 days of work and at least once annually thereafter.
