BEFORE & AFTER SCHOOL CARE SUPERVISOR

The Before & After School Care Supervisor's goal is to provide quality care and enriching learning experience to the children enrolled in the program.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education/Certification

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent.

Required Experience

  • 480 hours of experience working as a child care staff member in a program serving school-age children.
  • Have completed 15 clock hours, 1 semester hour, or 1.5 CEUs of documented school-age training.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Be at least 19 years of age.

  • Effective and respectful verbal and written communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES

  • Coordinate the planning and implementation of a variety of daily activities to help children develop physically, mentally, emotionally and socially.
  • Comply with local, state and federal laws as well as district policy and regulations related to programs.
  • Keep the facilities clean and organized.
  • Answer the phone, accept cash and checks and perform other organizational duties needed to maintain successful operation of the program.
  • Interact with parents as they pick-up and drop-off children daily.  Maintain open, two-way communication with parents regarding their children and the program.
  • Participate in the program and department problem-solving and/or decision-making process.
  • Serve as a “goodwill” ambassador to the public for the program, the Community Education Department and the Saline Area Schools.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
  • Remain abreast of current trends, knowledge and attitudes affecting child care and Before and After School Care programs.
  • Engage in self-evaluation with regard to leadership, performance and professional growth.
  • Pool days which involve swimming with students (not serving as a lifeguard) are expected.
  • Perform other tasks and duties related to the program as assigned or appropriate.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as the staff leader as you:
    • Assign daily responsibilities for staff.
    • Ensure staff interact with children in a way that shows respect and helps build children’s self-esteem.
    • Supervise children to ensure a safe, secure and comfortable environment for all participants.
    • Operate the copy machine, computers and other equipment as needed.
    • Use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
    • Light lifting may be required.
    • Assist in purchasing equipment and materials.
  • Demonstrate exemplary attendance and punctuality.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS, WORK HAZARDS
Work in standard office and school building environments requiring mobility, visual and auditory acuity, communication skills, interpersonal skills, organizational skills, problem-solving skills, adaptability, technology proficiency, physical stamina and environmental awareness.

Programs have access to a Chromebook

 

TRAVEL

Occasional attendance of off-site professional development events

 

WORK SCHEDULE

School days 6:30-8:45 and 3:00-6:00; occasional ½ day PM commitments of 11:45-6:00

Exempt

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • 12 month employee
  • REPORTS TO: Before and After School Care Program Specialist

HOURLY RATE

$21.11 starting pay
